Sr. Mobile Engineer (iOS)

Build the app that's electrifying home HVAC

TL;DR: We're looking for a mobile engineer who gets pumped about building beautiful, intuitive software that helps heat pump pros do their best work. You'll be shaping product from day one, not drowning in meetings.

The Mission That Drives Us

Heat pumps are the future of home heating and cooling—and they're happening now. But here's the problem: designing and selling them is a nightmare of calculations, rebate paperwork, and late-night "homework" that exhausts contractors and leaves homeowners waiting for quotes for weeks. And if the design is off, homeowners (and the grid; and the planet) suffer.

We built Amply to fix this. When heat pump pros can work faster and smarter, more homes get electrified the right way. When more homes get electrified the right way, we all win.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll be a builder on mobile. That means:

  • Ship features that matter – Build iOS experiences that make heat pump pros say "holy sh*t, this just saved me 3 hours and nailed the design"
  • Shape the product and the business – Work directly with our co-founders, not through layers of PMs and meetings
  • Own the technical direction – You'll have real influence on our architecture, not just implement someone else's decisions
  • Move fast, stay smooth – Our value "smooth = fast" means we ship quality code quickly, not rushed garbage
Real talk: We’re a team of four moving to five. You’ll be building and shipping and obsessing over customers, but you won't be sitting in endless alignment meetings. We're a team of doers.

You're Our Person If...

Must-haves:

  • 6+ years iOS development
  • Min 2 years Swift/SwiftUI
  • You've shipped real apps – Concept to launch, users in the wild, the whole journey
  • You love the craft – Beautiful code, thoughtful UX, and the satisfaction of solving hard problems
  • Mission-driven – You actually care about climate impact, not just collecting a paycheck

Bonus points:

  • Building science, energy, or climate background
  • AR/Lidar experience (we're doing some cool spatial stuff)
  • Startup experience (you know the drill: scrappy, fast, high-ownership)
  • Web development skills (Python, React/TypeScript)

Non-negotiables:

  • No a$$holes policy (seriously, life's too short)
  • Intrinsic curiosity – We're constantly learning and evolving
  • Solution-oriented mindset – "That's impossible" isn't in your vocabulary
  • Hunger – Deep desire to build something amazing that’s amazingly impactful

What Makes Us Different

We're not another venture-backed startup with no business model.

We're:

  • Cash flow positive – Happy, paying customers (not VCs) are fueling our growth
  • Small and scrappy – We've moved mountains with lot with 4 people
  • Customer-obsessed – Our contractors are real people doing real work, not "users" in a dashboard. They work on real homes everyday so the “break things and move fast” mentality doesn’t fit for us
  • Mission-driven – Climate impact isn't our marketing copy, it's why we exist
  • Anti-bureaucracy – Direct communication, fast decisions, no corporate theater
  • Remote-first – We have decades of experience building remote-based companies

Our values aren't wall art:

  • Delight drives us
  • Be boldly different
  • Simpler is better
  • Action eliminates doubt
  • Focus is a superpower
  • More here

The Practical Stuff

  • Compensation: Competitive salary + generous equity
  • Benefits: Health/dental/vision, unlimited PTO, flexible hours
  • Location: Remote-first (EST preferred since founders are in Maine/Mass)
  • Team vibes: Occasional in-person gatherings that are actually fun, not forced networking

Ready to Get Started?

Don't send a cover letter.

Instead, tell us, in a short Loom video or similar:

  • What's the most delightful mobile experience you've built?
  • What gets you excited about climate tech?
  • What's your hottest take on mobile development?

Record it, then go to our job listing on Climate Base, hit apply, and share it that way.
